Meera Jasmine's close shave in J&K

Meera Jasmine had a close shave at Jammu and Kashmir when the car in which she was traveling to her shooting spot was pelted with stones by an angry mob who was staging a protest over the Amarnath Shrine issue in the valley.
The actress had been to Jammu & Kashmir to shoot for a Telugu movie along with Jagapthi Babu. The crew had been on separate cars to the shooting spot on Wednesday night. Unfortunately the car in which Meera Jasmine was traveling was surrounded by a mob shouting angry slogans against the Jammu & Kashmir government and attacked it with stones.
Meera cried for help and police personnel rushed to the spot and rescued her. They then helped her get back to the hotel. The shooting, as a result was halted and the whole crew had to return back to Hyderabad

Sarina Wahab is back

One of the leading actresses of the eighties, Sarina Wahab, is back to Malayalam cinema after keeping away from the industry for the last 23 years. She will make a comeback to Mollywood through the movie 'Calender' directed by actor Mahesh.
The movie will present her as Thankam George, a professor who became a widow at the age of 23 years. Her only daughter Kochurani is what forced her to live the whole lane of loneliness. The movie which tells the intense story of the bonding between a mother and her only daughter will have Navya playing Kochu Rani.
Sarina Wahab was approached for the role after Sumalatha who was originally planned to be in the character, turned down the offer. Then the crew almost finalized Rohini for the role, but later settled upon Zarina as a better choice.
Zarina Wahab who was a key figure in many hits of the eighties, became famous for her roles in the films like Madanotsavam and Chamaram. She was last seen in Mollywood in the Priyadarshan movie 'Punnaram cholli cholli’, which came out in 1985.

Meera with Vijayakanth

Though Meera Jasmine is short of good projects in Mollywood, she is having a good time outside Kerala. The actress who is busy with her Tamil, Telugu and Kannada assignments with shortly star as the heroine to Vijayakanth.
The movie 'Maryadhai’ directed by Vikraman,will feature Vijayakanth in a twin role. While Meena is the heroine of the senior Vijayakanth in the movie, Meera Jasmine will don the character of the heroine of junior Vijayakanth .
Meera still have plenty of assignments under her sleeve, though occasionally she is replaced in many films.

Kamal Haasan - Mohanlal in back to back films

Indiaglitz had published last week that there is a buzz doing the rounds in Kollywood about the film 'Thalaivan Irukindran' which will mark the coming together of two great versatile movie artists of the country - Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal.
Well, the movie is to be directed by Kamal Hassan himself. The film will be produced by Gemini films and shooting is expected to begin from January, 2009.
Now, a double delight seems to be in the offing. Noted Malayalam producer Antony Perumbavoor, also known as Mohanlal's man Friday has unleashed his plans of getting both the stalwarts of Indian Cinema together for a Mollywood movie. According to the producer, initial talks have been underway since last week. Guess who the director of the film is going to be?
Well, it's going to be none other than Goutham Menon. Despite being a Malayalee, this would be the director's first Malayalam venture. Goutham has directed Kamal Haasan earlier for the successful film 'Vettayaadu, Vilayaadu'.

Mohanlal and Jayaram to share the screen

Mohanlal will again team up with Jayaram, again in the new movie directed by Blessy. These two big actors of Mollywood have earlier come together for films like 'Advaitham' which came out 18 years ago.
Recently they were also seen together in the AMMA's multi starrer 'Twenty: 20’ which featured all the stars from Mollywood.
Blessy’s yet to be titled new movie will be produced by Raju Malyath. The exact shoot dates of the movie is yet to be finalized as the director has got some personal reasons to delay the shoot of the movie.
Last time when Mohanlal and Blessy came together was for 'Thanmathra' which fetched accolades including the state awards for the best actor.

Mohanlal presented with Panambilli award

The third Panambilli Smaraka 'Prathibha Puraskaram' was presented to super star Mohanlal by the Union defence minister A K Antony, on Wednesday. Giving away the awards, Antony noted that it is no surprise that the jury couldn't find any other name for the award, than the versatile actor. The award instituted by KPCC's cultural wing 'Samskaara Saahithy' in memory of Panambilly Govinda Menon, carries a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a memento and citation. The earlier awardees include Sugatha Kumari and Sukumar Azhikkodu
