Priyanka Chopra - mohanlal photosPriyanka Chopra has found her first husband (Ok! Screen husband.), Malayalam actor Mohanlal, for Vishal Bhardwaj’s comedy 7 Husbands. There are six more to go.

Mohanlal, 50, has earlier featured in Bollywood films such as Priyadarshan’s Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar (2001), Ram Gopal Varma’s Company (2002), Aag (2007) and Rajkumar Santoshi’s Halla Bol (2008).

Vishal Bhardwaj is on a look out for the six remaining male actors who will be wedded to Priyanka in the film. There were reports that Hrithik Roshan is likely to be the lead with Priyanka but there is no word yet from the Bhardwaj camp.

Filming is scheduled to begin in March 2010.

Vishal Bhardwaj and Priyanka Chopra last teamed up for Kaminey (2009) in which Priyanka and co-star Shahid Kapoor received rave reviews.

Priyanka Chopra is awaiting start of production of Siddharth Anand’s Anjaana Anjaani with co-star Ranbir Kapoor.

Venkat Prabhu: A friend in need

Venkat Prabhu: A friend in need
IndiaGlitz [Tuesday, November 24, 2009]

The popular saying 'A friend in need is a friend indeed' came true at the music launch of Lingusamy's 'Paiyaa' in Chennai Sunday.

When Lingusamy asked his good friend Venkat Prabhu to host the show, the filmmaker had no hesitation in accepting the offer. And he made the evening livelier by anchoring the more than two-hours event with wit and wisecracks.

It is to be noted that Venkat Prabhu's forthcoming 'Goa' is expected to cross swords with 'Paiyaa' in the box office, as both films are apparently set to hit theatres the same time- Pongal 2010.

However, both Venkat Prabhu and Lingusamy have no issues running in mind about it and they shared a very good bonhomie at 'Paiyaa' audio launch.

A welcome trend, you can say!

Vijay impressed with Kanal Kannan

Vijay impressed with Kanal Kannan
IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, November 25, 2009]

Shoot of Vijay’s ‘Sura’ is up and running in Hyderabad from November 15th onwards. Director S P Rajakumar is busily wielding megaphone for the stunt sequences between Vijay and his villain Dev Gill. Scenes in which Vijay meets the villain face-to-face in his den were also shot.

It’s was FEFSI Vijayan who did stunt choreography to most of Vijay’s movies all these days. But, from ‘Vettaikkaran’ Kanal Kannan has taken the task. It’s said that Vijay was very much impressed with stunt master Kanal Kannan’s technical knowledge. Sources close to the actor confirm that Vijay will henceforth work with the new master as a minimum for 10 films.

Sura’s shoot is expected to be wrapped-up by November 28th and resume in Kerala by December 5th.

As per speculations ‘Sura’ produced by Sangili Murugan will be releasing around June 22, 2010 for Ilaya Thalapathy’s birthday!

Kavya Madhavan Divorce – News

Is Kavya Madhavan, who got married to Nischal Chandran on Feb 5, 2009, heading for a divorce?

There is no official confirmation about this from Kavya s family but sources close to them say that the marriage is on the rocks and Kavya who joined her husband in Kuwait is now back in Kochi and is staying with her parents.

Sources also state that Kavya s family has approached a leading lawyer and filed a divorce petition. Remember that Kavya got married to Nischal when she was at the peak of her career. Nischal, a failed actor and his mother were torturing Kavya mentally, alleging that she had an affair with a top Malayalam actor, which led to the split.

Kavya who was in Kuwait realized that Nischal and his family had taken her for a ride as he did not have a job and was always suspicious about her.

Kavya started her career as a child artist in Mammootty’s Azhagia Ravanan and her last release was also opposite Mammootty in Pattanathil Bhootam.

Vijay in Kobam

Vijay in Kobam
IndiaGlitz [Friday, November 27, 2009]

Hold your horses people, we can read your minds. Birdies have a fresh news about the actor’s next project.

We hear that Vijay will be acting in Seeman’s direction for Kalaipuli Thanu’s production soon after ‘Sura’. And this project is tentatively titled as ‘Kobam’. Seeman who was in Kanyakumari for ‘Magizhchi’ had been working for the script of ‘Kobam’ meant for Madhavan during his leisure time. Then as Madhavan became quite busy in Bollywood, the director had made certain changes and approached Ajith. Then by hook or by crook ‘Kobam’ had bounced towards Vijay.

Vijay was during the re-shoot of ‘Vettaikkaran’ when Seeman narrated the script over phone. Sources close to the actor said that Vijay was totally impressed with the short narration given by Seeman and accepted the offer immediately.

Looks like Vijay will have a collection of furious punch dialogue delivery to justify the title.

Well, we have to see who’s ‘Kobam’ is this…

Uthara Swayamvaram Review | Uthara Swayamvaram User Review

Producer : Santhosh Pavithram
Director : Ramakanth Sarju
Main Cast : Jayasurya,Roma etc.
Music : M.Jayachandran
Lyrics : Gireesh Puthencherry
Cinematography : Saloo George
Story : Ramakanth Sarju

Screenplay, dialogues : J.Pallasserry
Review by : Unni / www.Kerala9.com

The first thought that hits us as we come out of the theatres after watching ‘Uthara Swayamvaram’ is, “Well, I could have stayed back home and had a nap instead”. Having a nap or even doing nothing may be better than go watch this Jayasurya-Roma starrer. Anyhow there is another side to this. Thinking on realistic terms, you may even tend to justify your having seen the movie, with, “Well, what more could I have expected out of this movie?”
Well, there is nothing much ‘Uthara Swayamvaram’ has to offer. Rameshan (Jayasurya), working in Bangalore, happens to see a girl lying injured on the road, her face covered by blood. She had been hit by some vehicle and he too, like the others, tends to move away in a rather indifferent manner. But as he is moving away, he takes one more look at her face and is shocked. He takes her to the hospital. Soon his roommate Tony (Sudheesh) and their friend Dr. Thomas Paul (Saikumar) come seeking him and tell them that since he has done his duty and saved a life, he need not wait there at the hospital. They take him away with them, but he seems sad. It’s when they question him repeatedly that he narrates his story. The girl that he had got admitted in the hospital was Uthara (Roma), whom he used to call ‘Ponnu’ and whom he had loved ever since his childhood. They had belonged to the same village, Kannadi, in Palakkad district and in their childhood, Rameshan had even saved Ponnu from drowning in a well. Rameshan’s father Sreedhara Kurup (Balachandra Menon) was a middle class man who ran a provision store and Ponnu’s father Mahadevan (Laloo Aalex) was a rich guy who runs a jewellery shop. Anyway, Rameshan and Ponnu were quite close to each other and Rameshan even loved Ponnu in his heart of hearts. And then, Ponnu gets engaged to another guy, but after some twists in the story, Ponnu and Rameshan get married, only to be separated on the very next day following some misunderstandings. This is how the story progresses in ‘Uthara Swayamvaram’, a film that sometimes seems OK and sometimes tests your patience.
The problem with ‘Uthara Swayamvaram’ is not just that it has nothing new to offer. The story is all predictable and moves on predictable lines. The comedy-track, handled by Suraaj Venjaramoodu, Harisri Ashokan and others, is distasteful and sometimes even lewd. Nothing impresses as far as the movie is concerned and you wish such a movie hadn’t even been made.

Performances
Jayasurya and Roma are just about OK in their respective roles. Laloo Aalex is his very usual self. Balachandra Menon as usual does his role convincingly, with some of his stock mannerisms that have been aped a lot by mimicry guys and of course by Jayasurya in the film in one scene. The others are just about OK. Seeing Suraaj Venjaramoodu in stereotyped roles has now started becoming intolerable. The problem is the film doesn’t give any of the actors any scope for performance.

Technical aspects
There is nothing outstanding to mention about the technical aspects, which don’t impress us in any way.

Music
The music is OK. As for the songs, the song that begins “Mallike mallike…” is quite unimpressive while the bit that begins as “Amma urangunnu…” has been rendered quite soulfully, though it doesn’t seem outstanding.

Script
J.Pallasserry, who has scripted many entertainers of this genre, fails to impress us with his writing in ‘Uthara Swayamvaram’. The scenes are all poorly written and the humour distastefully handled. The instance of Pathalam Shaji (Suraaj Venjaramoodu) aiming to set a record for himself as the guy who had met with the most number of accidents and finally getting killed quite accidentally in a road accident could have been worked out in a real touching manner, but Pallasserry fails to do that too. Characterization doesn’t work out well in ‘Uthara Swayamvaram’ and that makes it a real intolerable movie.

Direction

Ramakanth Sarju, who begins the movie by expressing gratitude to his ‘gurus’, should have learnt more from them. He should have chosen a better subject or else should have worked out this subject in a better manner. Sorry Sarju. Better luck, next time.

Overall verdict- Unimpressive! Waste of money and time.
